Review: Program - It's a Sign
Tuesday
Day two of the unfolding week. Headin’ down unda. Is there anything the Aussies can’t do when it comes to rock and roll? I’m heavy leaning hard on a “no.”
Program - It’s a Sign (Anti Fade Records)
Not sure where this one jumped out of. Maybe I was listening to Civic or Parsnip? It’s an interesting label to dig through for sure. This one’s hard to put a finger on. It’s got a heavy strain of late-70’s power pop, like they haven’t fully shaken their Thin Lizzy aspirations. They definitely know their jangly rock and roll. There’s an indie pop airiness as well. At 12 songs in 37 minutes it’s bursting at the belt, but not quite blowing. Hooks galore, that’s the key. Every track reels ya in and keeps moving. “Precious Things” is one of those “this has got to be a cover” songs. A true classic in the making. If they come state-side you’d be doing everyone involved a favor to fork over your time and dough.
